The AI workflow generator builds a complete, editable workflow from a plain-English description. Instead of dragging every node yourself, you describe what you want to automate, answer a couple of quick questions, and the generator wires up the canvas for you to fine-tune.
The generator is a cloud feature that runs on our AI and uses your platform credits, so it needs a connected account with a positive balance. Local bring-your-own-key workflows always stay free; the generator is the one part that draws on credits. See BYOK keys vs keyless credits.
Step 1: Describe what you want
Open the generator and type a description of the automation. Be specific about the trigger, the AI work, and the outcome. For example:
Create a workflow that summarizes new blog posts and emails me the summary.If you are not sure where to start, pick one of the suggested prompts, then edit it. When your description is ready, choose Continue.
Step 2: Answer a few quick questions
The generator analyzes your request and asks a short set of clarifying questions, shown as option chips. Your answers shape the workflow it builds: which platforms to target, what tone to use, whether to include an approval step, and so on. Some questions let you choose one option, others let you choose several.
If the analysis cannot reach the AI, the generator lets you continue anyway with no questions and still builds a workflow, so you are never stuck.
Step 3: Pick the AI model
On the same screen, choose which AI model should power the workflow. The list is the live model catalog, the same set the node editor uses. Your choice is applied to the AI nodes the generator creates, and you can change any node’s model later on the canvas.
Step 4: Generate
Choose Generate workflow. The generator builds the nodes, connects them, and validates the result, repairing any loose connections before it hands the workflow to you. A progress animation shows the phases: reading your intent, sketching the pipeline, wiring the nodes, and validating.
Step 5: Review and refine
The finished workflow opens on the canvas, fully editable. Treat it as a strong first draft:
- Open each node to check its settings and variable references.
- Adjust prompts, swap models, or add and remove steps.
- Run it to see the result in the live execution panel.
Because repeat calls are cached, generating a second, similar workflow is noticeably cheaper than the first.
